Keinen Kachou Gafu

The most famous work of renowned painter Imao Keinen, Keinen Kachou Gafu (Keinen’s Book of Birds and Flowers) is a series of 4 volumes depicting Japanese birds and flowers across each of the seasons. Keinen recreates scenes in exquisite detail, framing the birds and flowers against eachother, using dual subjects from appropriate seasons. This work is noted not just for the attention to details in the subjects' characteristics, but also the natural manner in which they are depicted.
