The Western-style Colour-prints in Japan

Western-style colour-prints 10.jpg

By the mid 1800s, Japanese landscape art was becoming strongly influenced by western artwork. This collection of prints presents western style landscape prints, done in Japanese brushwork, with many traditional Japanese style cues. The influence of western work is most noticable in the use of perspective, however these pieces still focus on subjects that embody the harmony of man and nature, while utilizing techniques common in Japanese artwork.
