The Theatrical World of Osaka Woodblock Prints
A collection, and alaysis, of various woodblock prints created in Osaka related to the Japanese theater. This book consists primarily of protraits of kabuki actors (At this time women were not allowed to act in kabuki plays), generally in costume, and sometimes in scene. Such prints were the most common, and popular, woodblock prints for many years, until eventually landscape prints, and then war propaganda, came into popularity.
