Mingei: Folk Arts of Old Japan

Mingei 1.jpg

In Mingei, we see an examination of artwork done by those who were not of the 'upper crust' of society in Japanese history. Often this work is done on wares, a chance for craftsmen to express themselves through simple, yet eloquent, depictions on pottery they sell. Other times the works are actual artwork done for recreation, often in a style inspired by works of the period.
